DPR was set up in 2009 by Debbie Schogger, having studied Public Relations and Business at Leeds Business School.
Whilst at university, her passion in the field enabled her to frequently intern at some of London’s largest and most sought after consumer lifestyle and fashion PR agencies. Her keen interest in learning the industry resulted in her heading up the front of London Fashion Week for two seasons, at the young age of 21. Other internships under her umbrella included Oasis Stores, Disney, Saatchi & Saatchi and Blackberry.
After finishing her degree, Debbie landed a job in London’s biggest digital media agency, working on multinational brands such as Cadburys, Virgin Atlantic and Norwich Union. Here she began to build up an impressive list of press contacts and she soon became a regular to the online news desks. A passion and drive to succeed elsewhere forced her to leave digital PR and head for the luxury lifestyle sector.
Days within settling in at a luxury lifestyle agency, Debbie knew this was where she wanted to further and develop her PR career. She quickly became a strong member of the PR family and it was her commitment to the agency, clients and journalists which soon led her to manage accounts and help run the day to day office management, rising in the company hierarchy, and always gaining extra responsibility and experience.
As her career progressed, it became clear clients were demanding extra for less. In such a competitive and ever changing market, clients were terminating contracts regularly and she quickly noticed a gap to start independently offering clients the agency service, without the agency fees. She also found that larger agencies would ‘pass the buck’ to interns and junior account executives, and the work would rarely get done to level of the client’s expectations.
In 2009, Debbie decided to take the exciting step to go her own way on a solo project. Leaving her agency behind armed with a comprehensive list of journalist friends, PR knowledge, living and breathing social media, and an array of skills and experience she formed DPR. Just a few days after launching, DPR was warmly welcomed by companies in various fields. She is proud to boast clients ranging across travel, food, drink, fashion and medical.
It is her passion, energy, and dedication to her work which is what has created DPR.. and almost seven years later, her ethos stands strong; by doing a job you love, it is hard to mess it up.
